The production of aluminum forgings is a precise craft that transforms raw metal into high-performance components. At Southwest Aluminium (Kunshan) Co., Ltd, we’ve honed this process since 2012, creating 7075 rings and discs for global industries. How does it work?

alloy forgings

It starts with high-quality aluminum billets, often 7075 alloy, preheated to 370°C-480°C for malleability. These billets are placed in dies and shaped using powerful presses—our 630 to 10,000-ton lines handle everything from small bars to large-diameter rings. Closed-die forging ensures precision for complex shapes, while open-die suits simpler, larger parts.

Post-forging, parts are cooled carefully to avoid distortion. Heat treatment, like T6 for 7075 (solution at 470°C, quenching, aging at 120°C), boosts strength to 570 MPa. Surface cleaning removes oxides, and CNC machining achieves tight tolerances (±0.5mm). Rigorous testing—ultrasonic, tensile, and microstructural—verifies quality per AMS 4126 or ASTM B247 standards.

Southwest Aluminium(Kunshan)’s ISO 9001 processes and 70,000-ton capacity ensure efficiency for distributors and machining factories in the EU. With SGS certifications and 24-hour quotes, we deliver tailored forgings, from aerospace components to EV parts, showcasing a process where precision meets power.
